Where do we begin....the years escape us I have known Pat and Bruce for over 25 years and Shari for somewhere near 50 years. So many memories but FAR TOO FEW since we are sure many more would have been experienced in the years to come....life just is not fair. Geographical differences did not seem to be an issue in our long friendship. Two come to mind....shortly after Shari and I married Pat and Bruce came to visit us in Denver. We do not remember any specifics since 20 plus years have passed, We went on a road trip to Vail and Pat a Bruce related a recent ski trip that to say the least had to be something that would have been a good story line for a movie....something along the ski trip version of the classic movie Caddyshack. Shari and I laughed so much we hurt when we arrived in Vail. We wish we would have had a tape recorder...the story was so funny....I wish we could have been there for the actual event. We had a "few" drinks in Vail laughed more and returned home. Speaking of golf...we went on a trip to Ixtapa Mexico several years ago along with Dennis and Rox Ann Manz. We had developed a casual friendship with several other couples while "tipping" a few at the pool bar. We only had one or two drinks per day...well maybe....? ? ? ? One day we left the pool bar and went to the local golf course and had a few glasses of Coke...there might have been some rum involved but I can't be sure....The match concluded and I was the victor, so of course I had to buy a round or two before we headed back to the hotel. We lost alot of fluids On our return to the pool bar to once again hydrate ourselves....lost more of fluids in the bus from the golf course. One of our new found drinking friends asked me if I had beaten Bruce and Dennis....and out of the blue I said.... "Let me put it this way, The last time I saw a beating that bad was the day I put a banana down Dennis pants and turned a monkey loose on him." I think Pat may have had to give Bruce mouth to mouth to revive him. Can't say that I have ever seen 20 plus people laugh harder. The week after we checked out I can only imagine that the restaurant manager must have said....."what the hell happened to our pool bar revenue that we had last week? We had to buy a few drinks for some of the people we met pool side....then again maybe not. We had many great times....they just ended WAY TOO SOON ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! It was very tough writing this while listening to "My Way" We ALL wish Bruce was still here doing it "HIS WAY" Carl and Shari Hurst.....Sun Lakes AZ
