Written to me by our army friend, Peter Adams He was such a quiet guy I doubt that any of his friends of his later live could have conceived that he was a flight leader who led at least 100 combat air assaults as "CHALK#1". On one occaision he led the flight that inserted our infantry to recover yours truly (ME). Some unpleasant people had messed up my helicopter and were trying hard to ruin my day. It was a "HOT" LZ but Bruce lead'em in. Any number of times I flew up the flanks of Bruce's formation and saw his flight of five aircraft surrounded by smoke and green tracers arking out from the tree line as his ships disgorged infantry and then were gone.
